Hittin’ the Bottle

Today, Lincoln is 2 weeks old. Yesterday, he gained another 20 grams. I haven’t heard today’s stats, yet, but that 20 grams puts him up to 3 lbs 3.5 oz. We’re so close to clothes we can taste it. Although the SexyBack look he’s been sporting for the last two weeks is quite adorable. Also, he got moved to a new cluster in the NICU. They got a lot of new admits this week and had to move the healthier babies from each cluster up to the next one. He was one of the healthier ones. It’s good he got moved, too because apparently, the baby girl who was next to him in his old cluster was starting to move her arms and legs as wildly as Lincoln does. He’s such a bad influence, but I think they moved him before he could teach her how to pull tubes and monitors out.

They are going to try giving him a bottle today and see how he does with that. I would imagine that if he can successfully maintain taking a bottle, filling his tummy, and burping they will take his feeding tube out. The bottle (which is filled with Janet’s milk) coupled with Janet’s nursing should provide him with the nourishment he needs to keep moving up the scales. I just know that later in life we will marvel at how we concerned ourselves over every little gram. Watch him turn out to be an offensive lineman.
